Cover letter for administrative assistant

Why send a cover letter for administrative assistant positions?
1. Employers normally expect one
2. It’s your chance stand out at this early stage to stand out from the rest of the applicants by letting them know what you can offer them and why you have chosen to apply for a job with them.

       

 

There are two types of cover letters.
1. Ones in response to a particular ad
2. The second you send to companies that have not advertised but you would like to work for.(speculative letters)

What should be in a cover letter for administrative assistant positions

• Aim for short, sharp and to the point
• Address it to the relevant person ie the name of the person you could potientially be working with or someone in human resources.
• Always quote the job reference number (if there is one) as well as mentioning when and where you saw the job advertised.

The first paragraph of a cover letter for administrative assistant should:
• State what position you are applying for
• The reference no
• The date and publication of the advert
The second paragraph a cover letter for administrative assistant should:
(this is where you sell yourself)
• Outline the skills you have that are asked for in the advert
• Outline the experience you have that are asked for in the advert
• Outline the personality traits you have that are asked for in the advert
• Any qualifications asked for in the advert
• Finally state why you want the job
• And why you feel you would be good at it.
• To show you have done some research you could mention something about the company
Closing paragraph
• Refer to your enclosed CV
• State that you are available for interviews at any time ( or whatever’s convenient to you)
